ClubDPO is a community that brings together Data Protection Officers (DPOs) to address issues related to GDPR compliance, governance, and data protection. For its event “La Matinée du DPO 2026,” the goal was to offer a format that goes beyond the traditional conference.
Held on April 14, 2026, at the Maison du Barreau, the event was designed as a hybrid conference modeled after a MOOC, combining expert presentations, freely accessible educational content, and interactive sessions.
The goal was to encourage the sharing of best practices, feedback, and expertise, while maintaining active participation, whether attendees were on-site at the Maison du Barreau or online.
To orchestrate this innovative format, ClubDPO chose Wisembly as its technology partner, capable of centralizing registrations with a payment module, managing communication campaigns, and facilitating interactivity, while supporting the early launch of the remote component and the implementation of a seamless user experience.
1. Challenges and Objectives
400 registrants took part in a groundbreaking event: a conference designed as a hybrid MOOC. The event combined in-person live sessions, remote access, and a structured educational approach that incorporated open-access content.
With "La Matinée du DPO 2026", ClubDPO did not want to organize a simple conference, but rather to offer a hybrid format inspired by MOOCs, designed as a comprehensive learning experience. The goal was to combine educational content, live presentations, and continuous interaction, creating a coherent progression for participants.
This approach entailed several practical challenges. First, the educational content had to be structured while ensuring continuity with the live presentations. The launch of the remote component before the event required precise access management so that each participant could log in at the right time and access the correct content without confusion.
Integrating payment via HelloAsso into the registration process was another key challenge, requiring reliable synchronization between payment, registration confirmation, and access to content and the live stream.
Finally, the event needed to maintain a high level of engagement through the integration of polls and quizzes directly linked to the educational content, allowing participants to respond in real time, regardless of their participation method.
2. Operational Implementation
The complexity of the system hinged on a highly precise sequence of technical and organizational requirements: paid registrations that needed to be validated, access that had to be automatically activated, the launch of the online component prior to the event, and live moderation on the day of the event—all without disrupting the user experience.
Wisembly made it possible to synchronize these steps within a single environment, ensuring consistency between registration, access, and participation.
As soon as the online platform opened seven days before the event, participants were able to log in, marking the start of the training program. The purpose of this early access was to establish a sense of educational continuity leading up to the event, giving DPOs time to familiarize themselves with the topics covered and the structure of the sessions.
This phase also helped ensure the technical aspects of the hybrid setup were in order, allowing participants to test their connection, access to content, and participation environment before the event.
On the day of the event, participants followed the sessions in person or remotely while interacting in real time through questions, polls, and integrated quizzes, designed to keep the sessions engaging and reinforce learning. These interactions transformed the sessions into active discussions, while reinforcing understanding of key concepts.
At the end of the day, participants retained access to the shared content and resources, allowing them to review the presentations and reinforce what they had learned. The event thus fits into a sustainable framework, where the MOOC experience continues beyond the live session and supports participants’ ongoing skill development.

The partnership between ClubDPO and Wisembly is a long-term one, featuring regular support across a variety of event formats, including the DPO Morning and more institutional initiatives such as the 2025 Golden Place for DPO Award.
For this latter event, organized by Mediactive Events, Wisembly handled the technical implementation of the hybrid evening, managing registrations, streaming live presentations, and coordinating pitches, in a format that highlighted initiatives in data protection and responsible artificial intelligence. On this occasion, the Club DPO’s RIA roadmap, developed in collaboration with the CNIL, was also presented to the public.
Beyond the technical aspects, this partnership is built on an ongoing relationship of trust, enabling Club DPO to rely on Wisembly to structure high-value-added hybrid events, whether educational, institutional, or community-focused. This collaboration was made possible thanks to the involvement of the ClubDPO and Mediactive teams, as well as the ecosystem of partners mobilized around these initiatives.
